The Trimbakeshwar Temple in Nashik is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva in India. The temple has five distinct worship methods; Nitya Pooja, Kalash Pooja, Ganesh Pooja, Pradhana Pooja and finally Maha Pooja. Nitya Pooja (Daily Pooja) includes daily morning and evening pooja rituals which are performed every day, beginning at 5.00am in the morning and ending at 11.00pm at night. Kalash Pooja is performed with turmeric, kalash (sacred pot) and pooja materials where five priests performs the pooja ritual at the same time. Ganesh Pooja is a daily pooja ritual held at 6.00pm. Pradhana Pooja is performed on Fridays and Sundays at noon when five priests perform pooja rituals and give a coconut offering to the presiding deity (Lord Shiva). Maha Pooja is the grandest pooja scenario of them all, with various pooja rituals and archana recitals taking place for up to two or three hours.
